Hours: Mon-Fri ; 45 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for a passionate full time nursery assistant to join our family. Ninna Nanna is a family run nursery. We operate in a small setting in a loving and friendly atmosphere.

You will work as a key person and as part of the nursery team under direction of the manager to give our children the best start in life.

the role

  • You will create a close relationship with the children, the staff and the parents. This also applies to other people the service is in regular contact with, for example at playgroups, schools and play centers. Consequently, this enables us to provide the best care for our families.
  • Planning and activities form an important part of our nursery life. You will get the opportunity to plan, lead and also take part in play based activities. All of our activities stimulate and support the children’s learning and development.
  • Listen to, follow instructions and communicate well with the team. Moreover, you are encouraged to share any ideas or suggestions to improve any aspect of the service which should be shared with the manager.
  • Importantly you would need to maintain high standards in the nursery.

key responsibilities and duties

  • Listen to, encourage and support children in their play, learning and development.
  • Assist and support children with personal care requirements. For instance, changing nappies, helping with toilet needs, changing clothes and shoes. In addition, you will be helping children at meal times.
  • Accompany children and staff on regular trips to planned outings.
  • You will abide by all policies and procedures in place within the setting at all times. Therefore, you need to be aware of Ofsted requirements.
  • Follow health and safety procedures to keep the environment safe at all times. For example, you will need to check that the equipment is safe to use and age appropriate.
  • Safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children. This is to be done in line with the Child Protection Policy.
  • Follow emergency procedures in the event of an accident or incident. Moreover, First Aid training will be provided within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Be aware of infection control and ensure good hygiene standards.
  • Ensure all administration and records are maintained as directed by the registered person. You will also ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This includes incident reports, attendance records, equipment cleaning and maintenance records and personal work timesheets.
  • Abide by the service confidentiality policy at all times.
  • Undergo induction and training procedures as required and in keeping with Ofsted/Care Inspectorate requirements.
  • Remain up to date with training as required and take responsibility for own professional development.

  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Early Years Level 3 qualification or above.
